This week, Clark hosted Take Your Child to Work Day in Clark offices across the country for our employees' families, offering children a first-hand look at the world of construction.

Throughout Clark’s offices, the children began their work day by partaking in activities that exemplified one of Clark's core values — giving back. In McLean, children created cards of gratitude to our first responders and veterans. Meanwhile in Chicago, parents and their children created dog tug toys for a local animal shelter.

The young "engineers" then headed to a local active project site, including GMU Fuse at Mason Square in Arlington, VA, 633 South LaSalle in Chicago, IL, and North Hollywood High School Modernization in Los Angeles, CA. At the Fuse at Mason Square, children met with Clark Foundations to discuss their underpinning strategies and focused on another essential building component — concrete. Clark Concrete guided the children through their first concrete pour using pre-made cookie dough, chocolate chips as aggregate, and pretzel sticks as rebar. Once the concrete was placed, the group met with a few members of the safety department to learn how Clark ensures safety on the jobsite. At 633 South LaSalle in Chicago, the children were taught the importance of getting ready for the day with a stretch and flex. Meanwhile, on the West Coast, children participated in a friendly competition where they were divided into teams and had to work together to load a toy truck using a toy excavator.

While our young builders experienced different activities and job sites, they also discovered one important thing: there's no better way to end a hard day’s work than with a sweet treat!
