From your first days on the job, you will gain access to Clark Corporate University, our in-house learning academy that offers more than 100 programs in the classroom, in the field, and online. From safety training to sustainable building, and BIM to better negotiating, each course is designed to enhance our employees’ construction, leadership, and business skills, and prepare them for the responsibilities they’ll assume throughout their career. Equally as important as the knowledge you’ll gain through CCU are the relationships you’ll build along the way. Led by some of our most seasoned professionals, Clark Corporate University courses present an opportunity to learn from — and build a rapport with — the company’s industry and subject matter experts.
Professional Development Program
Designed to cultivate well-rounded employees, Clark’s Professional Development Rotation Program provides new operations personnel — and employees with prior construction experience — with the opportunity to participate in various facets of our business, including project acquisition, field operations, and project management.
Team Clark Mentoring
A year-long initiative, Team Clark offers new college grads the chance to build relationships with their colleagues, while learning about the organization and construction industry. Activities such as jobsite tours, subcontractor visits, and trips to area attractions and sporting events, help young engineers acclimate to the company.
Boot Camp provides engineers ready to make the transition to management with a greater understanding of Clark’s project management practices. During this intensive, off-site, week-long program, employees work alongside Clark’s in-house experts and executives to develop the skills and knowledge base necessary to become project leaders.
Field Development Group
Clark’s Field Development Group enhances field management learning and prepares participants to step into the role of Superintendent. During this two-year program, participants build leadership and communication skills, and gain valuable technical know-how through a curriculum of seminars, individual and group projects, and on-the-job training.
Clark/Darden MBA Certificate
Designed to complement the company’s existing in-house initiatives, the Clark/Darden MBA certificate program arms our construction professionals with the business skills they’ll need to be executives. Through a two-year partnership program with the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business, selected employees gain valuable business know-how and exposure to external thought leaders and heads of enterprise from other industries across the world.
Business Unit Leadership Development
BUiLD is a rigorous leadership development program that prepares senior managers to take the next step in becoming company executives. Employees selected for this year-long program learn business and leadership lessons — such as how to identify emerging opportunities and manage multi-faceted projects — from Clark executives and outside business professionals. Working collaboratively, they apply these lessons through business analysis, case studies, and team assignments.
Project Management and Superintendent Steering Committees
Clark's Project Management and Superintendent Steering Committees foster leadership and innovation. Comprised of employees with a wide range of skills and experience, these committees focus on ensuring consistency in our business practices nationwide, as well as identifying and implementing new strategies and processes to help the company maintain its position as a construction industry leader. The Project Management and Superintendent Steering Committees host conferences every 18 months, bringing together operations personnel from across the country to network, review the organization’s strategic priorities, discuss new and existing work, and share best practices and lessons learned.
