Maryland Governor Larry Hogan joins Clark and Carr at 7272 Wisconsin Avenue Groundbreaking

Bethesda, MD – Governor Larry Hogan joined Carr Properties and Clark Construction Group for the formal groundbreaking at 7272 Wisconsin Avenue. Situated in the heart of Bethesda at the prime intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and Elm Street, 7272 Wisconsin is the future home of The Wilson and The Elm, a transformational mixed-use development project that will include office, retail, and residential space.

Oliver Carr, III, CEO of Carr Properties welcomed guests at the start of the groundbreaking, thanking the multitude of project stakeholders who have come together to make the project possible. Carr stated, “With a partnership between Carr Properties and Clark Construction going back for generations, we are very thrilled to be working with Clark on this project. We are excited to work with Clark’s leaders, as well as Pasco Umbriac and Molly Raglani, who are leading the efforts on the ground every day.”

Governor Hogan also spoke at the event, with an emphasis on the economic opportunity that the project presents for the county and state. “This project, especially with its seamless integration of the Red Line and Purple Line Light Rail Station, will provide more transit options for the region, and will connect more people to job opportunities. It is an exciting achievement to see so much work getting done. Once completed, this site will be incredible. It will feature some of the highest-quality construction in Bethesda, including glass curtain wall facades, enhanced outdoor public and private spaces, first-class amenities and state-of-the-art building systems.”

The development project will feature approximately 937,000 square feet, made up of an office building (The Wilson) with ground floor retail, two residential towers (The Elm) housing 456 units, and a shared above and below-grade parking facility. The property will sit atop Metro’s Bethesda Red Line, the future Bethesda Purple Line Light Rail Station and the Capital Crescent Trail - a first class shared-use trail, which will collectively make this location the best transportation hub in Montgomery County.

Other attendees at the event included Montgomery County Officials, project architect Shalom Baranes Associates, and Carr’s residential development partner Insight Property Group, as well as local media and other distinguished guests.

The Wilson and The Elm are scheduled for completion in Fall 2020 and the first half of 2021, respectively.
