Clark Civil has been awarded a $32 million contract, including bid options, for the BART El Cerrito Del Norte Station Modernization project in El Cerrito, CA. Kal Krishnan Consulting Services is the project architect.

The team will renovate the existing El Cerrito Del Norte station, one of the busiest transportation hubs in the Bay Area, and construct a new 13,000 square-foot addition to the station. Construction includes two glass and metal panel-enclosed towers that will connect the station concourse to the train platform. The project team will replace the station’s flooring with terrazzo tile, and will install a modern metal ceiling featuring LED lighting. In addition, Clark Civil will install gate equipment and construct a bullet-resistant agent booth, as well as public and employee restrooms. The project team also will reconfigure traffic and bus circulation routes at the station, increasing station efficiency and access.

The El Cerrito Del Norte station will remain active throughout construction. Clark’s team will perform phased work and coordinate closely with BART authorities to ensure minimal impact to operations.

Substantial completion is slated for May 2019.
