As a part of the Competitive Renewable Energy Zones projects throughout eastern Texas, Irby Construction contracted with Atkinson Power to complete the conductor installation to integrate significant renewable power generation into the grid.

Atkinson's scope of work included the installation of 40 miles of bundled 1926.9 ACSS/TW Cumberland double circuit 345kV transmission line conductor with one static 7#8 Alumoweld shield wire and one Alcoa 52 Optical Ground Wire on a combination of both lattice structures and steel poles.

Atkinson Power utilized Summit Helicopters to string the lead line onto the towers for the entire 40 mile length, which allowed the project to meet the pressing project completion deadline.
