Edmonson Plaza (1701 Duke Street)
Edmonson Plaza provides modern, luxury amenities in a historic setting. Located in Old Town Alexandria, the project included the construction of a 115,000 square-foot Class A office building and preservation of an adjacent 19th-century building listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Edmonson Plaza (1701 Duke Street) features an exterior that complements, and updates, the surrounding neighborhood. It consists of a double curtain wall system on one elevation and a mix of masonry and metal panels with punch windows wrapping the other three sides. Inside, the main lobby features 13-foot ceilings and rich finishes of granite floors, makore paneling, granite wall tile, venetian plaster soffits, and brushed stainless steel column covers. 77,000 square feet of below grade parking are provided for tenants.
While Edmonson Plaza did not seek LEED certification, the City of Alexandria required that the project team receive enough LEED points to qualify for certification. Environmental amenities include a green roof, dedicated alternate transportation parking spaces, bicycle storage, and showers for tenants.
