Galen Event Center
Located on the University of Southern California’s (USC) campus, the Galen Center and Athletic Pavilion provides a true home court advantage to the Trojans’ basketball and volleyball teams. In addition to serving USC, the Galen Center hosts a variety of community events, concerts and other non-athletic events.
The 255,000 square-foot Galen Center features a 10,260-seat indoor arena, four practice courts, 22 private suites, visiting team and referee locker rooms, a state-of-the art weight room, a medical training area, concession stands and support spaces, a multipurpose room with full kitchen, a Hall of Fame area, a merchandise store, and offices. The adjacent two-story Athletic Pavilion contains coaches’ offices, administrative space, meeting rooms, and storage space on the lower level, as well as upper level practice courts. The Pavilion connects to the Galen Center at both levels.
The arena is marked with several unique architectural details, including a 2,700 square-foot window feature, which provides stunning views of downtown Los Angeles, and seven distinct raised-brick murals at the building’s exterior. Sculptor Dean Tschetter created the murals, which consist of over 20,000 bricks, all numbered and coded for installation. Each mural took two weeks to install, and not one brick was damaged or misplaced during the process.
