Clark Begins Work on Central Place Residential

Arlington, Va. – The JBG Companies has awarded Clark a $146 million design-build contract for the Central Place Residential project located in the Rosslyn neighborhood of Arlington, VA. Clark will partner with Beyer Blinder Belle Architects and Planners LLP.
Clark has begun the first phase of work which includes demolishing the existing structures onsite, including two sky bridges over North Lynn Street and North Moore Street, and conducting hazardous materials abatement prior to beginning construction. Clark will then construct a 31-story, 377-unit residential tower clad in unitized curtain wall with unique curved elements. The finished apartments will include Italian finished cabinets, stone countertops, stainless steel appliances, and upgraded fixtures. The top three floors of the building will be constructed with luxury level finishes.
Central Place's exterior elements will include 30,000 square feet of ground level retail, a roof top terrace on the sixth floor with outdoor pool and cabanas, a fitness center, and a 17,000 square-foot public plaza, complete with a full canopy and IPE deck. The public plaza will connect to the Rosslyn Metro Station entrance, recently completed by Clark. As part of the project scope, Clark also will relocate multiple utilities, and install new traffic lights and pedestrian crossings.
The Central Place Residential project is designed to achieve LEED® Silver certification upon completion.
Once complete, Central Place will be the be one of the tallest residential structures in the Washington, D.C. region.
Clark Foundations will provide the support of excavation for the project.
Construction is underway and substantial completion is scheduled for January 2017.
