Clark Completes Camden NoMa Apartments in Washington, D.C.
November 21, 2013
WASHINGTON – A November 13 ribbon cutting marked the symbolic completion of Camden NoMa, a 321 apartment complex in the heart of the growing Washington D.C.'s NoMa neighborhood.
Clark led the construction efforts to build a 14-floor building with three levels of below-grade parking, a landscaped courtyard, main lobby area, management offices, and common areas. Designed by WDG, amenities include a rooftop entertainment lounge, game lounge with billiards and flat screen TVs, and a fitness studio.
Clark constructed the model unit early in the construction process, so that it could be used as a tool for coordination issues and to confirm overall quality. This process allowed the client, Camden Property Trust, to see the finishes, appliances, and paint selection to ensure it would meet their brand standard.
Clark Concrete self-performed the concrete scope of work for the cast-in-place structure. The company completed the 25,000 square-foot slab-per-floor in a two-pour sequence. An "early day" concrete strip mix was used during concrete operations to increase the time needed to strip the floors, as well as begin unbonded post-tensioned stressing operations early. Clark Concrete was able to improve the schedule with this exacting concrete and pouring sequence.
