Clark Enterprises is D.C.'s Top Corporate Philanthropist

BETHESDA, Md. – Clark Enterprises Inc., has been named Washington, D.C.'s top corporate philanthropist, according to the Washington Business Journal's annual survey of local philanthropists. In 2008, Clark Enterprises, including A. James Clark, the Clark Charitable Foundation, Clark Construction, and the Clark CARES Foundation, a charitable initiative of Clark Realty Capital, gave more than $10 million to non-profit and charitable organizations in the Washington, D.C. area alone. The Top Corporate Philanthropists list was published in the paper's May 21 edition.
Philanthropy and community service have long been a part of Clark's corporate culture. Across the country, the company and its employees continue to give back in dollar and in deed. In 2008, the company donated millions of dollars to charitable organizations across the country, as well as performing thousands of hours of volunteer and pro-bono work.
Last year in the Washington, D.C. area, Clark continued long-standing relationships with numerous organizations, including Rebuilding Together, So Others Might Eat, D.C. Central Kitchen, Habitat for Humanity, Samaritan Inns, and several schools and universities. Also in 2008, Clark partnered with Boston Properties to build a new home for the Spanish Education Development Center, sponsored 72 employees in the National Race for the Cure to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, and supported or donated to dozens of local organizations including area Boy and Girl Scout Councils and cultural institutions, such as Arena Stage, Shakespeare Theatre, and the Kennedy Center.
