Clark teams across the country have been excited to welcome this year's cohort of summer associates to our jobsites and offices for 12 weeks of hands-on learning.

In this award-winning program, college students gain firsthand knowledge about building what matters through jobsite tours, virtual and in-person training on construction fundamentals, one-to-one mentorship, social events, and more.

The experience brings classroom ideas to life and is an invaluable way to get insight into the daily planning, decision-making, and communication required for successful projects.

Nina Fiedler, a summer associate in Alexandria, Virginia, says, "One thing I've learned thus far is the difference between driven and drilled support of excavation piles and the benefits and disadvantages of each. I have loved being able to walk the jobsite and see firsthand where these piles will go and why the method of installation was chosen for that particular location. I look forward to future job site visits!"

Summer associates fully integrate into our teams and learn how large-scale projects and processes move in real-time. Clark teams fully support summer associates' growth, including exposure to technology and areas of work that might be less familiar.

"It is very difficult to pinpoint just one thing I have learned since being at Clark," says Mo Attallah, a summer associate in Chicago. "I have had the opportunity to work on submittals and RFIs (requests for information) and construct a waste management plan to adhere to LEED requirements. I have also had the pleasure of speaking with tradespeople in areas that I am not as strong in, like scaffolding. Overall, the project team keeps me prepared for anything that comes my way!"

In 2024, we are proud to offer this hands-on learning experience to 261 summer associates, our largest class ever.

They hail from 99 universities, another increase from prior years. The largest number of participants join from schools that include Virginia Tech, University of Maryland, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Sacramento State, and the University of Washington.

The Summer Associate program plays a key role in Clark recruitment. Almost two-thirds of the 2024 cohort of summer associates are rising seniors, and more than 100 summer associates are returning for a second time or a full-time position.
