The Forum Honored at the 44th Annual Los Angeles Architectural Awards
June 20, 2014
LOS ANGELES – The Forum Presented by Chase recently earned the Preservation Award at the 44th Annual Los Angeles Architectural Awards gala. Hosted by the Los Angeles Business Council, the Los Angeles Architectural Awards recognized three dozen of the best architecture and design projects in Greater Los Angeles.
Designed by BBB Architects, the Forum's seating bowl was completely modernized and features flexible configurations to accommodate events ranging in size from 7,000 to 17,500 attendees. In addition to completely refurbished concourses, patrons enjoy approximately 8,000 square feet of new event level hospitality offerings, including food, beverage, and merchandise areas, and upgraded bathrooms. Two hundred and thirty tons of steel reinforcement equipment has been added to the roof to support new state-of-the-art lighting and rigging equipment.
Among the key features resurrected in an effort to replicate the original design is the exterior color of the venue, which was repainted to the 1960’s “California Sunset Red” (now renamed as “Forum Red”). In addition, a distinct and iconic Forum marquee, that reflects the architecture of the venue, is located at the intersection of Manchester and Prairie.
Clark completed the extensive Forum renovation in a record seven months. The venue reopened to the public last January as the largest indoor performance venue in the country designed with a focus on music and entertainment.
