Clark Selected for Design-Build Public Safety Operations Complex
December 23, 2014
Tampa, FL – Hillsborough County has awarded Clark a $26 million design-build contract for the Hillsborough Public Safety Operations Complex. When complete, the facility will consolidate various public safety functions including emergency, dispatch, and government operations. The complex also will include a call center and an information technology center.
Clark will construct an 85,000 square-foot building designed to withstand a category five storm event. The facility will be comprised of a structural steel frame on a shallow foundation with bearing tilt concrete panels. Clark will install a chilled-water system and robust mechanical and electrical systems that will be equipped to handle critical needs in the event of an emergency. The systems will feature potable water, sewage storage tanks, and emergency generators designed to power the entire building in the event of an outage.
The team also will construct a Fire Rescue Headquarters, complete with a warehouse, fire training facility, a fleet services area, and a fueling station. The training complex will contain structural collapse props, burn simulation buildings, a trench shoring and rescue simulator, swift water training pool, and a rappelling tower.
Designed by Dewberry, the Hillsborough Public Safety Operations Complex anticipates achieving LEED® certification upon completion.
Design is underway; construction will begin in April 2015. Substantial completion is scheduled for August 2016.
