May 30, 2013
VENTURA, Calif. – The County of Ventura has awarded Clark Construction Group - California, LP, a $216 million contract to design and build the Ventura County Medical Center Hospital Replacement Wing Project. HOK is the project architect and will lead the design team. Construction efforts will begin in May and the hospital is expected to be complete in 2017.
The project will replace a 120-bed acute care facility with a state-of-the-art facility at Ventura County Medical Center (VCMC) that meets the state's requirements for seismic safety. The new wing will support numerous medical services, including emergency, surgery obstetrics, ICU, NICU, PICU, and imaging. In addition to the medical scope of work, the team will add a new central utility plant and loading dock to the VCMC campus.
Planned to achieve LEED® for Healthcare Silver certification, the hospital design includes green roofs, a healing and viewing garden, skylights, exterior canopies and screens, and a pediatrics play area that will enhance the facility's healing environment.
Project partners include KPFF Consulting Engineers, Los Angeles, structural engineer; ME Engineers, Culver City, Calif., MEP engineer; RBF Consulting, Los Angeles, civil engineer; and Treadwell & Rollo, Los Angeles, geotechnical engineer.
